Wonder Cat…

Wonder Cat...

Last night, just as I was falling asleep, I heard this strange noise coming from my balcony. I should say 4th floor balcony. I got up to check and see what it was and realized that I had left the screen door open. Soon after I realized that the cat was gone.
Horrified I checked the living room, looked under the bed, checked the shower, looked again just to make sure. Gone. I ran downstairs, searching, looking at the ground, calling her name... She was gone.
I called Freeman, made him come over and look through the apartment, made him walk with me around the neighborhood. Gone. She was gone.
To say I was distraught was to put it lightly. I was bordering on hysterical.
Finally I calmed down enough to at least lay down. Though I didn't really sleep. I was exhausted. I was worried. She is such a little thing. Where could she be? How could she just be gone?
I couldn't lay in the bed anymore. It was 3 in the morning. I had been out on the balcony several times throughout the night - looking, checking...
I sat on the futon. I was in shock. How? Why? Was she dead? Did she land in the trees below? Was she hurt? She was alone, she must be so scared....
I must have dozed on the futon.
Suddenly I heard this cry. It was Cleo. She was downstairs. She was outside. I flew downstairs - she was on the other side of the fence. I got her to come to me - picked her up and clutched her as I carried her into the apartment building.
She was okay. She sprained her knee and is bruised and a little emotionally battered. She's okay. She's home.
Freakin Cat. What was she thinking? I live on the 4th floor! I swear, she must be watching too much TV when I am not home...

Needless to say, she isn't allowed on the balcony until I figure out a way to Kitty Proof it. No way. Not having this happen again any time soon. I get the feeling she agrees as she won't come out from under the bed.

Big, no HUGE thanks to Freeman for coming to my rescue.
