Oars, Yarmulkes, and 5 lbs of Cheese later…
My weekend is over.
I realize it is Wednesday and technically my weekend should have been over yesterday, but I have been super busy trying to get my stuff ready for school. Add Crew and Work Traumas and you have a kind of stressed out person.
Oars
Saturday I sat in a Crew boat for the first time. I was very, um, worried about getting in the boat. And with good reason, I had never seen a crew boat until last Tuesday, let alone attempted to get into one.
Saturday I did though, and it wasn’t as bad as I thought. My heart still fluttered a great deal when we did some tipping exercises, but I made it and I didn’t go swimming. Good deal.
Yarmulkes
Sunday night I was invited to a Hockey game. I love Hockey. Adore it. I think it is the best sport ever. Just thinking about it makes me happy.
There are no professional hockey teams in Seattle, so those of us that love hockey are forced to non-professional venues. In reality, it doesn’t matter, Hockey is Hockey. A group from work had planned an outing and I went along to watch the Seattle Thunderbirds . It was a great game; our team won and then fought the other team after the final buzzer.
As we were leaving the venue I noticed something strange on a kid in front of me. Now I had seen this kid several times during the night trying to sell raffle tickets. I had thought to myself that the child needed a better hair cut. I thought it was a girl, but I was mistaken. It was a boy and the reason his hair was that way was because (the lightbulb came on) he was Jewish. (Please keep in mind that I had been drinking so the light bulb was already quite dim.) Regardless, as we were leaving the venue I noticed the young man was wearing a yarmulke. With a logo on it. Seriously, it was a yarmulke endorsing the kid’s favorite hockey team!
5 lbs of Cheese
On Monday I went to Costco.
Then I went to the grocery store for the things I couldn’t find at Costco.
Somehow, when all was said and done, I ended up with five pounds of cheese.
Risible Girl – aren’t you proud?
I may not post for a few days – I have a strict deadline for school and a lot of work to get done in the meantime. It will all be done by Monday though. Whew!
