Life now…
I’ve talked quite a bit about the horrors of my new location downtown. The homeless on the street, begging for money, begging for food. I’ve mentioned the horrible smells of summer time (if I haven’t, I meant to, it terrible.) The city is not the most pleasant place to be.
Except on certain days at lunch time.
Days where people stand on the corners with big bags of free stuff and willingly hand it out to you. Even hand you extras if you ask.
Free stuff like gum, candy bars and, of all things, Starbucks cards.
I’ve received countless samples of eclipse gum, one of my favorites. I passed 6 different people with bags one day! Each was handing out 2 samples. That was a good one. Lately the m*azing people from M & M have been out. My total candy bar count is up to 6! Today, while coming back from a short noon walk, I received a $3 Starbucks card. Yippee! Breakfast tomorrow is paid for!
So, while working in my new building is a pain most of the time (beggars, foragers, various questionable characters) the chance of free stuff does come as a nice surprise!
