It’s Over!

The Fremont Solstice Parade is done for another year.  The day turned out to be beautiful and sunny, at least for the parade.  I even got a little sunburn.
The parade itself was okay.  I tend to agree with my mom that my dance teacher has lost her mind a bit.  She decided to build a pyramid in the parade, and though it turned out well, she focused so much time and energy on it that she didn’t put the energy into the dancers like she normally does.  We spent a lot of time standing in front of the audience and boring the heck out of them.  Mom’s comment, “It just wasn’t that entertaining, other groups did a lot more dancing while your troupe just stood there.”
I tend to agree.
I’m thinking of dropping off an anonymous note to the studio telling them how I felt.  It’s been a lot more fun in years past.  And I missed last year, but if it was like this last year I don’t question that people weren’t willing to do it again.  I’d be hard pressed to join the parade if all I am doing is standing in front of people, blocking their view and feeling stupid.  We’re a dance troupe after all – let’s dance!
So – my big event for the summer is complete.  It’s all fun and games, beer festivals and rafting trips from here until November sometime.
I love Summer.
