End in Site

The week went something like this:
Monday: Developed my transition plan, vetted it with my team members who started freaking out.  One in particular got really upset with me for trying to plan out my transition when she had other things to work on.
Tuesday: Met with my manager to discuss the transition plan.  I asked him about an end date and he said he hadn’t gotten in touch with the hiring manager yet.  I wasn’t surprised; he gets in around 8 and leaves around 4.  The hiring manager gets in around 7, leaves who knows when and is in constant meetings all day long.  Couple that with the fact that my current manager didn’t want to deal with me leaving…yeah.
Wednesday: Nothing happened.  I heard from the recruiter who was trying to push me for a transition date.  I didn’t answer as I was hoping the managers would figure that out (in reality that is the process.)
Thursday: I get to work to find a message from my current manager stating that he broke his leg in two places the night before and would not be into work for the rest of the week.  Hmm…that’s not helpful at all.
Friday:  With the help of the group’s executive assistant, I get an end date.  My last day with my current group will be October 12th.  It is VERY likely that I will not see my current manager before I take off.  Wouldn’t that be nice?
