But…All my freinds are doing it…

All my friends are sewing.
Well, at least some of my friends are sewing.  One of my imaginary friends even set up a website dedicated to her sewing called The Daily Skirt. And she’s making fabulous skirts.  Skirts I would see and then secretly drool over.
MoodyBabe is doing much the same, even going so far as to make a pledge to not purchase clothing for 6 months!
Me?
I’m dreaming of a sewing room filled with thread and fabrics and wonderful patterns.  Which may or may not ever happen.
Of course, dreaming is one thing.  I did attempt to launch head first into sewing madness once in my teens.  My Grandmother and Mother ended up “finishing” all of my projects for me.  Commenting on the uneven stitching and such.  And my Mom just about had a heart attack when I tore up an old towel to make a terry cloth skirt because I just KNEW it was going to be the next big thing.  Which it was...only they weren’t made with old yellow towels with lines drawn all over them because I can’t cut straight.  And a ragged edge because I wasn’t aware that you needed to finish the edges and, well, that cutting straight thing happened again…
For now I will keep dreaming, and maybe hand stitching a few belly dance hip scarfs to keep me out of trouble…
