Avoiding Temptation and other Notes

Tuesday:
- I saw RisibleGirl in a skirt.  (She’s one of my favorite people and definitely my favorite blogger) I’ve never seen her in one before.  She looked fabulous.  She said to mark it on my calendar because it’s such a rare occurrence.  I was going to blog about it Tuesday and forgot.  Bad Me.
- My gym, for some unknown reason, decided it would be a good idea to give away ice cream to members.  Yes ICE CREAM.  There were signs everywhere about it.  Also included were signs stating how long a person would have to work out to make up for a serving of ice cream.  That’s what did it for me.  I was not spending an extra hour in the gym to make up for a serving of ice cream.  I resisted the temptation and did not partake.
- We received a letter in the mail with a “gift check” in it.  Turns out I messed up in my wedding spreadsheet somewhere and accidentally sent people a thank you card for a gift I hadn’t gotten yet.  Fortunately the gift was received on the same day I sent the thank you note (and the note was generic enough that they wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.) Now I look extra competent rather than like a screw up!  Now I just need to send a note to the people who ACTUALLY sent the original check.

Wednesday:
- I went shopping for a Rehearsal Dinner dress yesterday.  Not finding anything and feeling slightly put out by the selections I was finding, I headed to the book store.  Where I always find something that fits.  I can’t wear it, but it fits!  I was searching the shelves, browsing away, when I saw a package of crumpets.  Someone left a perfectly good package of crumpets on the shelf.  Being a good citizen, I marched them over to a staff person.  She looked at them with this expression of, “what the heck are these?” when I told her someone left them on a shelf.  I then explained that they were crumpets.  The whole thing left me feeling rather sad.  Sad because the staff member had no idea what they were, sad because someone left perfectly good crumpets sitting on a shelf, and sad because I wasn’t taking crumpets home with me.  I could go and get them at any time, but I don’t because I have a good breakfast thing going on right now.  But tomorrow IS Friday and I’ll get my crumpet fix then.  A yummy crumpet with cream cheese, ham, egg and tomato.  Yum! Pair that with a Carmel Latte and I will be in heaven tomorrow. 

Thursday – today:
Hmmm…well…hmmm.  I learned a couple of things today. 
1.  one of the women from my writing group won 3rd place in a writing contest.  I’m slightly jealous, only because I wish I had written something in time and been able to attend the conference where she won.  I do not think I am more deserving.  No way.  She is a fabulous writer and I’m very excited for her.  Only jealous of her ambition and dedication. 
2. my writing group is falling apart.  One of the women is moving to another state.  One of the men just broke up with his significant other and, well, that doesn’t help with the whole writing thing.  Another woman has a sick puppy and cannot leave him.  Since the puppy is often sick…well…yeah. 
3. people at my work are stupid.  They don’t pay attention to what’s happening around them.  I don’t know what they do all day, but it makes me very afraid for the future of my group and my company.  And it shines light on why we are where we are, as a company.  These same stupid people make up answers to things they don’t know.  They don’t even bother to ask the person in charge, they just make it up.  It is very disconcerting.  I don’t like it.
4.  22 days till the wedding.
