Ahhh… three day weekends…
Why is it, when faced with three days off, people think you have more time than you do? Somehow you are expected to pack more into a three day weekend than any person should be expected to. You become faced with options, disappointment and constant company. Any other weekend and none of these expectations would exist. Everyone is having a party, everyone is going somewhere and everyone wants you to be there.
Thank goodness for the word no.
On that note – should I launch into a blow by blow of my busy weekend? Yes, I think I should and I shall…
I left work early on Friday afternoon, anxious to be out of the office and in the sunshine. Freeman had a friend (E) coming up from Portland so we headed to Tacoma to meet him. We arrived early and decided to drive a long the water front. It was packed with people enjoying the sunshine and the breeze. We received a call from E letting us know he would be later then originally thought. With that information we headed to a different beach and a nice drive along the coast. We stopped for some ice cream and then headed to the bar where we were to meet said friend.
E finally called to let us know his car had broken down and he would not be coming into town. At least not any time soon. Freeman and I paid the tab and headed back to Seattle.
On our way back into town he received a phone call from one of his other friends. T was moving on Saturday and was wondering if Freeman could help him out. Freeman said yes (making sure not to include me without asking first, very astute of him.) When he got off the phone I let him know I would be happy to help with the move (to keep the Karma wheel rolling in the right direction) and offered the use of my Xterra for the job.
Saturday morning was set. We got up early to help T move. We made three trips and then left the rest for T’s girlfriend’s family to take care of. T had packed, but his girl had not, and she wasn’t being overly helpful with the move. After we finished unloading the Xterra for the last time, and she sat and watched, we decided it was time to go! We went home, cleaned up and headed to the Seattle Center for the Folk Life Festival.
The Festival was a blast. Tons of people were there, clogging the streets and enjoying the lovely weather. Everywhere you looked, musicians were playing, people were moving to the beats and having fun. The food was also really good. Yum!
After all of that, Saturday night was a bust. We went to the store and grabbed some munchies and fell asleep.
Sunday was family day. We drove down early to spend some time with my mom and then, later in the day, headed over to Freeman’s mom’s house. We picked Up E – he had finally made it into town – and headed back to Seattle. E had never been to our beach, so went out for the sunset. It was a nice, laid back night.
Monday morning was an early one! T, E, Freeman and I went out to breakfast. We met up at 7am. Yawn!
E, Freeman and I then watched a movie. Freeman took E back to Tacoma and went to a BBQ. I elected to stay home. It was a wonderful afternoon. A perfect end to a busy weekend of fun!
