A little sick, a little twisted

People in the office are dropping like flies with various illnesses this week.  One lady is out with strep, another man with a cold, and so it goes.  My body has decided it is also under the weather.  I went home sick yesterday but decided to come to work today despite still not feeling great.  Mostly because I have little to no interaction with people and little to no work to do.  So it is almost like being at home, only without the comfy bed and warm snuggly kitties.  Well, warm snuggly Cleo.  Jager hasn’t figured out how to snuggle yet.
I’m getting bad mojo feelings about our apartment complex.  (This is the twisted part.) A few weeks ago Hubby and I noticed that someone had broken into our storage area and stolen our bikes.  Then we noticed that someone had broken into ALL the storage areas for our building and various people were robbed.  We called the police, but they basically said, “Well that’s too bad, we can’t do anything for you” and left.
Then last night someone pulled a fire alarm in the garage.  The entire building had to be evacuated.  Since half the people in our building are really old men and ladies, the fire alarm was actually pretty frightening.  Hubby and I looked at each other thinking, “Half of these people cannot make it down a fight of stairs, let alone 3.” We saw various faces looking down from their windows trying to decide if they needed to attempt to come outside.
Luckily, it was just a false alarm, so no one was hurt, nothing damaged.  But I had to think to myself…first a robbery and then a pulled fire alarm?  How many people in our building just left their apartments without locking them?
Like I said bad mojo feelings.
Hubby and I also realized that we have no evacuation plan.  This is really ironic because I am head of my floor’s emergency response team at work.  I have a plan with all kinds of evacuation stuff for work, but nothing at home.  At one point Hubby looked at me and said, “we left the cats upstairs…” and the carrier for the cats is in the basement.  Yep.  We’ll be working on that this weekend.  It was a bit of a wake up call for me.
