I love IM

I love IM

IM is one of those great time wasters that business don't think about. They of course think of it as a communication tool - but lots of us have found a better use... talking about other people without them knowing!

This is mostly for LR, cause we miss her when she isn't here...

A co-worker and I were discussing other people in our area:
...
OT says:
Yes. and then I couldn't figure out how to turn the car off, so I had to drive to the dealer and ask them to help me....
Me:
but then they turned it off and I couldn't drive home so I had to get a can to come pick me up and just leave the car there
OT says:
But I had trouble along the way, my headlight burned out and I couldn't drive any further because I might get a ticket
Me:
it was very traumatic
OT says:
Now I'm trying to figure out how to get the car picked up. I think I'll take the shuttle to Boston, fly to Philadelphia and then hitch-hike along the I-90 and then my friend Hildegaard can pick me up and take me to the bus stop...
OT says:
But then I could just walk the rest of the way? What do you think?
Me:
oh no! the soles of your shoes would be in danger!
OT says:
Especially if I get splashed by a Metro bus...
Me:
No kidding! Just think of the dry cleaning bill!
OT says:
S: Let's see you could go to that little shop on the road near the place we went that one day and there's a place that serves soup there and you could have that for lunch.
M: Yes, or I could just go to Specialty's.
S: Oh, do they do soup?
M: Yes.
S: There's another place somewhere in the city that serves good soup. I don't remember where it is, but it's near some place where I've been before. You know where I'm talking about don't you???
Me:
Oh! If only I could have heard that conversation - I totally would have piped in!
cause there is that one place - you know - a few blocks away that does soup
and then there is that other place - in the other direction but not as far... you know the one!
OT says:
But is it still open? If it's not, then you could take the ferry to Bremerton and go 12 blocks south and there's a cafe on that street that reminds me of Rome and in one of the shops you can get great soup...
OT says:
But don't get the gazpacho. They use too much salt. But do add salt to their Split Pea soup, because they only use kosher salt and if you don't add table salt, you don't get the added iodine... Me:
S is so helpful
OT says:
And poor LR is missing out on all this fun....
OT says:
Hey, I think I'm going to pull out my new whistle and blow it a few times...
Me:
no whistles!
Me:
Did LR tell you I took all of them from the kitchen and threw them away?
Me:
I couldn't stand it any longer... there were like 2 dozen of those things too!
OT says:
No. That's funny. I agree, what a stupid Halloween gift and then to bring them to work. Like we really want people like MM to have a whistle in her mouth...
Me:
Ha! as if people aren't annoying enough...

I think I work to hard... don't you? wink

So Many Compliments - So Little Time..

So Many Compliments - So Little Time...

I forgot to mention that I went to a new hairdresser on Friday. She's fabulous. Plus my hair looks great. As evidenced by the overwhelming amount of compliments I have received today.

I love good hair.

Office Life…

Office Life...

Some people must be really good at their real jobs, because the challenges of everyday life almost seem too much for them.

Office Worker #1 has spent hours on the phone with her dealership. She has been in 3 accidents in the last 3 months. Her latest issues? One - She can't change her headlight. So, not only did she take the car in to get the light changed, she also wanted to know if there was a way to tell the net life of a headlight. If one is out, wouldn't the other be going out soon? Is there a way to tell whether said light will soon be going out? She would like to limit her visits to said dealership... then today she added a new issue to the list. Apparently she can't change the clock in her vehicle. So she will be traveling to the dealership to have that changed for her. She knows the service guys by name and voice. They know her voice too. I feel very sorry for them.

Office Worker # Annoying. This would be the annoying woman who sits across from me. Apparently she thinks that if she whispers no one can hear her. Even though her whispering is only a fraction lower than her normal speaking voice. Her normal speaking voice being high, whinny and loud. I now know more about her feet than I ever wanted to. yeah.

Someone decided to bring in their leftovers from Halloween. I am in full support of this, if and only if they leave the STUPID PLASTIC TOYS at home. I'm sorry you didn't get enough trick or treaters to give away the stupid little plastic whistles, bells and other crap you decided to waste your money on. But I hate you for the simple fact that you decided that it was a good idea to bring these to work, put them in the kitchen near where I sit, and entice dozens of adults to relive their childhoods near my desk with bells and whistles. I don't know who you are, but I am sending bad thoughts your way...

One of my co-workers has a magnetic fortune teller set on her cube overhead. It's pretty fun - you pick a bunch of triangles and they tell you your future. I get things like, "Forget Big Blossom Habit" and think things like "I didn't know they were still running that show" I also got a great one last week "Keep Western Blossom Jerk" I couldn't come up with a good one for that - but I liked it.
Anyway, Office Worker # New Girl decided that she needed to test her fortune to see if she is going to get her house. She plucked her triangles from the rows and turned them over. Then she got this look on her face this she was going to cry, put the triangles back and went back to her desk. I myself don't put much stock into little magnetic triangles. Just doesn't seem that smart...

My fortune for today? "Show Crucial Keep Bottle"

Weekend Re-mix

Weekend Re-mix

Friday night was Movie night at Kim & Nikki's. I won't tell you what we saw for the first flick. If you really want to know, ask me, but I'm not posting it here. Cause you wouldn't know about it, then you would google on it, then you would get mad at me and send bad thoughts in my direction. I don't need any more bad thoughts coming my way than I already have. The second flick we watched was Sleepy Hallow. Perfect movie for Halloween weekend. They wanted to watch Cold Mountain. If they had, I would have had to consider leaving. It's a war time movie. Admittedly the Civil war, but a war movie all the same. I just can't watch those. It hurts, so I don't do it.

Saturday I saw "Team America: World Police" and it ROCKED. I loved it. It will be one I will have to purchase, for the simple fact that it is a puppet movie. But the voices, the way the puppets moved... oh it was funny. Saturday night I hit a couple of parties. They were okay - but I knew I had to drive later so I didn't drink much. I have a feeling I would have had a much better time had I been a little bit drunker. It was just that kind of night...

Sunday I went on a bike ride! Whoo hoo!!! The weather was a bit cold, but the sun was out and calling my name. Maggie and I headed out on the Burke-Gillman trail. we rode for about 3 hours - then stopped at Baha Fresh for lunch. It was super yummy after such a long ride. I hear the weather is supposed to be nice this coming weekend as well. I can't wait to get out on my bike again.

tidbits

I have lots of little tidbits today - but I also have a ton of meetings - so I will do my best to get everything down...

I live in Seattle. The water isn't that great. I was starting to think that the water wasn't too bad.

I've had a filter on my sink since I moved in. Not the same filter, mind you I have changed it before. I didn't wait as long to change it last time as I did this time though. I shouldn't have waited.

When the filter popped out of the little holder big chunks of brown gooey looking stuff came out.

I'm SO GLAD I have a water filter smile
