Happy Thursday

What better way to celebrate Thursday than a delicious Theo chocolate brownie drenched in dark and white chocolate with blueberries on the side?
smile

Cheers!

This and That

- Health
I started having some pain in my lower left side a few weeks ago. After numerous tests, the Dr. finally decided it was muscle related and sent me to a physical therapist. In the meantime we found that my liver is elevated and I had to do some special tests just for that. I went in for my first CT scan ever on Friday.
It wasn’t fun. Not in the slightest.
They couldn’t find a willing vein and had to try several times before one finally obeyed. I had two guys working on me - the first gave up after 5 tries. I told him it wasn’t his fault, that sometimes my veins just didn’t want to cooperate. But he was pretty irritated with himself. It took the other guy several minutes to find one and then it was on the other side of my arm - they don’t usually stick you over there…
The CT scan was fine. The after effects were not. I was sick for three days. After I got home on the first day I just lay in bed, shaking from what ever they had given me. It was poison to my body and I didn’t do well with it. Something to keep in mind in the future.
They gave me the all clear on everything but my liver. The elevation is due to some fatty deposits that have infiltrated it. The doctor is encouraging me to lose weight.
Personally I am not that worried. I’m not a big drinker, maybe once a week if that. And I don’t generally eat badly. Right now...right now I am under an emotional cloud that it making it hard for me to function on most levels. I’ve gained some emotional weight - I don’t know what else to call it - that I think will drop pretty quickly after all of this is over. If Hubby is any indication of my future - I should lose a few inches! I’ll keep it in check and see where the next few months take me. But I’m not going to freak out. That would just make things worse.

- Work
I have 10 working days left. I’m working from home 3 or more days a week right now. I’m taking classes on how to prepare to look for a job and taking advantage of the services being offered. They are good classes. I feel like I am learning something from every one.
Really - I just can’t wait to be gone. There is a palatable excitement emanating from those of us who will be leaving the end of this month. Yesterday I scheduled my “last lunch” and felt a warm feeling in my stomach.
I am so ready to move on.

- Home
We finished the deck and have turned our attention back to the yard. Not sure what we’re going to do specifically, but we’re coming up with some ideas. The Asian Pear tree is ripe and we’re harvesting a BOUNTY of fruit. Out of every 10 we pick, at least 8 are edible. All the hard work we put in over the year has paid off. All the spraying and pruning...we’ve got juicy, sweet fruit. It’s awesome smile

- Other
I decided to start a craft circle when I get back from Colorado in October. I’ve been floating the idea around to some of my friends and they are all jumping at the idea. They all want to make stuff, to be crafty, but they need ideas and help. I’m going to make it a monthly circle, invite everyone and see who shows up. I’m amazed (though I shouldn’t be) at the types of requests I’m getting. People want to learn everything from crocheting to quilting to making gifts for around the house. I’m really glad that I come from a long line of crafters so I don’t have the fear of making mistakes that a lot of these ladies have. Of course I have a small library of books on crafting to back me up, and I am sure I will get more!

Crossing

We are on our last leg of the journey home. West Seattle is a short ride across the water and then we are almost home!

We found a great comfy coffee place. They even go along with my need to have strange things made in my coffee foam smile
