Never Enough

I guess I haven’t been blogging enough.  Suddenly I’m getting all kinds of people saying, “you know you could blog about that.” I could blog about a lot of things that I don’t…but I will try to blog more.  Gotta keep people happy!

First off – yesterday hubby and I went shopping for head phones.  He needed some for the gym.  I didn’t need any, but ended up with these slick metallic red ones.

They are from Skull Candy, of all places, and I love them.  Plus now people can tell when I have headphones on!

Speaking of people, I found this on the internet:

Nuff said!

Hunting

Hubby and I have been thinking of starting the hunt for a more permanent residence.  I’ve been going back and forth on what kind of residence we should move into.  Part of me really wants a house.  It’s the not sharing walls, not sharing space, having a yard part of me.  Part of me doesn’t want a house.  Part of me wants a townhouse or condo with no yard maintenance but still having the ability to paint the walls.
Ultimately it’s the yard that gets me.  I like the idea of having a house and being separate from people, but yard work has never been my favorite thing.  I will plant flowers and diligently water them for 6 weeks.  Then, in the heat of summer when they need the most attention, I’m off having fun and all my flowers die.  Also there is the fact that I am allergic to fresh cut grass and mowing sends me into a sneezing fit.
Also, based on present habits, I think a house would be a bit much for us.  We tend to be a bit lazy when it comes to house work.  We would rather head out for a night on the town with our friends than stay at home and clean the bathrooms.  Personally, I’d rather go for a walk then plant flowers or weed a garden.  I don’t know that I want to change that.  I think I would rather stay involved with my activities than stay at home.  And where I would like a little more space or specifically a space just for me, I don’t knot that I want it attached to yard work.
All things to ponder as we start the hunt.  Or rather start thinking about starting the hunt wink

Pants Problem

I’m continually on the look out for pants.  Finding a pair of pants that fits and is comfortable…it has always been a bit of a battle for me.  I’ve had the same problem with jeans as well.  Either they are too relaxed and look baggy of they are too tight and cut off the circulation to various parts of my body.  My favorite has to be the skinny legged jeans or pant that squeezes my calf until my legs start cramping and I start seeing stars.  I once wore a pair of jeans like this and ended up walking for a mile or so, I seriously thought I was going to pass out from the pain in my legs.
I had given up on women’s jeans and went back to wearing men’s jeans, which almost fit correctly, almost, when I walked into a Gap store and found them.  The Boyfriend jeans.  And not just any boyfriend jeans, but jeans in my size, that fit the way I’ve always wanted jeans to fit.  I wear them every chance I get.  I love these jeans.  LOVE them.
Because of my success at finding the jeans I decided that perhaps it was time to search for pants again.  What a horrific mistake.  I have tried on so many pairs of pants that are too baggy, to tight, sit too high or too low, it’s been very discouraging.  I was in the dressing room with my mom lamenting, “why can’t I find a pair of pants that fit like my jeans?”
I ended up buying a couple of pairs of pants that I thought would be good, only to wear them and feel uncomfortable all day long.  They were made of this weird stretchy material and the zipper was in the back.  I understand the purpose of having a zipper in the back, but it makes things a little more difficult in the bathroom.  I don’t like having to fight my clothes.
So, knowing my constant battle with pants, and jeans, and my new found love for the Boyfriend Jean, you can imagine my total EXCITEMENT when I saw the new Gap add for the Boyfriend Trouser.
Can it be so?  Did they actually make pants that fit like my jeans?
I can only hope, and order them to find out!
Cross your fingers for me!

Weekend Report

What a weekend.  It was filled with activity and a pretty acute (and surprising) hangover.
It all started at 5:30 Saturday morning when Hubby and I woke up.  I then dropped Hubby off at Fado around 6:15 for an “Irish” breakfast.  I made my way back home to get a few things taken care of before I left for my mom’s.  I believe he stayed at the bar until I called him to tell him he had to go home (about 11:30.)
I traveled down to my mom’s house.  We spent a good amount of time cleaning up her garden from the winter carnage.  We did a lot of talking, something we usually do in these types of situations.  I’ve been taking in a lot of advice about work lately.  I seem to keep doing the “wrong” things and irritating people because I don’t understand what’s going on.  I don’t know that it is really anyone’s fault per-se, I feel that the situations are caused by my lack of experience and knowledge in the area they want me to support now.  That and the fact they will not listen to what I tell them.  They, my manager specifically, makes sweeping assumptions about what I know without ever really checking to see.
Regardless, I think I have a better understanding of what I need to do now.  Now it’s just timing.
Mom and I had a great time cleaning up the garden.  I know it makes her feel a lot better to have that kind of stuff taken care of.  We then took off to pick up her fiend for high tea.  The tea was really wonderful, though we had to wait as they were running behind.  I have a good feeling that is where my hangover came into play.  We got free champagne because they were running late.
We had a lot of fun with the tea, talking and laughing.  It was a fun afternoon.
Then I returned home to find Hubby and two of his friends drinking and playing the Wii.  We continued in this vein until 12:30 or so that night.  No, I wasn’t drinking that much, I only had one beer!  That’s why I think the hangover came from the champagne…
Sunday was a pretty relaxing day.  We did clean up and I went to write at the café.
Needless to say, we were both in bed early last night.  grin

Back Again…

We arrived back from sunny, warm California yesterday afternoon.  We arrived in turbulence, rain and wind.  It was nice to be home, but at the same time I already miss the sun.  Spring will be here soon though…

Wednesday
I arrived in CA about 7pm.  Hubby and his brother (FM) picked me up from the airport and whisked me off to the house where we picked up FM’s wife (JM) and went to dinner.  It was an early night, JM had to work the next day and we were all pretty tired.

Thursday
We started with a driving tour of various places.  We drove through Hollywood, down Sunset Blvd and Rodeo Drive.  FM asked me if I wanted to get out and walk around and I said no, I really just wanted to see it, but I didn’t feel like I needed to get up close and personal.  Also, I was pretty excited to get to our final destination – the Getty.
The Getty was amazing.  They had so many great exhibits and the buildings themselves were incredible.  I’ve never been to anything like it.  They had an entire exhibit on French Illuminated Manuscripts – the guys thought they were manuscripts that were lit up – they were incredible.  I could almost see the men that worked for years to create these amazing pieces of work.  We spent hours there.  It was fabulous.
That night we headed out to the MOST amazing part of the trip.  We went to the Magic Castle.  This place is a members only club for magicians.  It was absolutely incredible.  We got to get up close and personal with the magicians and see all kinds of “tricks.” The food was great too.
In one trick, and if you want to hear about more tricks you will just have to email me, the guy asked for three gold rings from the audience.  People passed in three of their rings.  He put them in a bowl and did some magic and pulled them out – all hooked together.  He then passed them around the audience – we got to touch, feel, and see the rings hooked together.  Then he took them apart.  It was like nothing I have ever seen before.  The whole night was that way.

Friday
We had an ultra-relaxed morning since we were out so late the night before.  We finally headed out about noon and went to the Norton-Simon, another museum.  This one has the largest exhibit of South Asian artifacts outside of Asia.  It was a beautiful exhibit and I am glad that Hubby wanted to take me.  We had an easy going afternoon, mostly in preparation for that night.
JM and I went to get pedicures and run some errands, the boys stayed home to play dominoes.
FM had one of his buddies get reservations for us at a local Chinese restaurant and we went for some authentic food.  We had a large party, 9 of us, and we laughed and ate and had a wonderful time.  We stayed at the restaurant for 3 hours.  It was so fun, we laughed so hard.

Saturday
Saturday was Santa Monica day.  We walked on the pier, looked at the beach, and watched the performers and people walking around.  We spent the majority of the day there, just watching people and looking at all the little vendors wares.  That night we stayed in, bbqed some meat and watched a movie.

It was a fabulous trip, very relaxing with lots of sun.  Just what I needed!
