Friday Randomness…

Friday Randomness...

I was walking up the stairs coming to work this morning and there were a couple of ladies talking. I only heard a snippet of their conversation:

Lady 1 - Oh... do you have asthma?
Lady 2 - Yeah - but I only smoke two packs a day...

My boss' birthday was Tuesday. For this occasion I collected money and bought her a really pretty reddish purple vase and some flowers. We also took her to lunch. When we got back the vase had broken and water was all over her desk. It was sad because the vase was so pretty. This morning I walked in her office to find her a little pale and very wide eyed. I looked at her and she said, "Elizabeth, look!" she pointed at a red bowl split perfectly in two sitting on her desk. "I was on the phone and heard a crack and looked over to see the bowl split in two. It had nothing in it, it was just sitting there..." She was completely freaked out. Honestly, though, I think there is something weird about the energy on this floor. I have not been feeling myself since I moved here, and I can't put my finger on what the issue is. Maybe I will have to come in after hours and see what I can do about getting rid of the bad chi. I've already been thinking that I need to do something for my cube... it just doesn't feel right.

The lady that sits across from me changes her computer settings every few days. She's gone from the Red with yellow to bright yellow with pink to bright pink with green and has now landed on Bright Green. And I do mean BRIGHT GREEN it hurts just to glance in her general direction... Fortunately she gave up on the "bushism" of the day. It was getting annoying, having her point it out to every soul that walked by during the day.

I rode my bike into work today. Yeah me!

My Weekend… By Elizabeth

My Weekend... By Elizabeth

Preface:
I have to preface the story with the fact that I have not been having a great time with life lately. I have been overly tired and, though not cranky, I have not wanted to be around. Work has been just as bad. I am constantly questioning whether I made the correct decision to move where I am now. Most of it has to do with my boss and my constant inner conflicts with her. While she was on vacation I was very happy and got a lot of work done. Now that she is back I have noticed a distinct difference in my attitude. I don't think it is coincidence. I think they are related.
So - that is how my Friday started out. Frustrated with life and well, not happy about being around.

Friday
Friday afternoon I left work early. I got very little done, but then I have very little to do and even less motivation to get it done. Part of that is the other person we are supposed to be hiring. There is a lot for this person to do and a lot of guidance that this person could give me IF my boss would just HIRE SOMEONE. (sense the frustration?) Anyway - I left work early. My pal Freeman left early as well and we caught the first express bus back to Ballard. Upon reaching our destination we immediately went to the Jolly Roger Taproom and started drinking. That pretty much set the pace for the rest of the weekend.
Friday night I started watching a movie trilogy. It started with "El Mariachi" continued with "Desperado" and finished the next morning with "Once Upon a Time in Mexico." It was an interesting trilogy. I liked the first movie the best. The other two were okay - but rather disjointed. There were plot issues and with the last I couldn't really figure out why I was watching to movie (other than I had rented it.) I worked on my blanket though, it is this super soft dark green creation that I am creating for myself. It's ridiculously soft. I can't wait to have it finished so I can wrap up in it.

Saturday
Friday night bled into Saturday morning with the watching of the movies.
I can't remember what I did Saturday. I think I went to the store to buy a card. And I am pretty sure I went for a little walk. But I couldn't tell you what else happened. Saturday night is another story! Freeman and I went for Pho soup (it's really yummy and we have the BEST place just up the street from us. Since it was rainy and cold Saturday soup was the best thing to eat for dinner. Plus this place is super cheap. We were trying to decide if we wanted to go get a beer and started walking down Ballard Ave. Freeman mentioned stopping by Madame K's for desert. Well, you can't mention desert to me and not follow through, so off to Madame K's we went! They have a super good desert. It's a half baked chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream on top. They serve it straight out of the oven in a small deep dish pan. It's hot and gooey and it's called an Orgasm. Oh yeah. It's THAT good. Especially with a bottle of wine.
After desert we went bowling. I did pretty well, considering how much I have played! I missed a couple of frames completely - meaning there was only a couple of times were I didn't hit ANYTHING. It was fun.
After bowling we decided to go back to the Jolly Roger. Oh yeah! The place was practically empty and the bartenders and cooks were goofing off. There are two twins that bartend at the Jolly - they are Dave & Jim and they are super funny. They were prank calling the kitchen from the bar and pretending to be women. It was funny! They wanted me to join in, but I wasn't feeling up to the task.

Sunday
Ah Sunday.
I cleaned out my closet and re-arranged it for fall. It had to be done.
I visited my mom at her work (poor mommy...working on a Sunday)
I bought pots and some potting soil to plant some baby spider plants off of Freeman's oh so happy one. It's springing babies left and right.
Sunday afternoon/ evening I went to Freeman's to join the congregation heading to the Beastie Boys concert that night. We went to Madame K's for dinner. They have rockin food there. The pizza is SO good. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The food was fantastic. Then we headed over to the Key for the concert. It was great. They were a lot more political than I expected. The crowd was very mixed as well. The Beastie Boys span generations and the attendees showed that. The concert was loud and crazy and very good. It was over about 11pm.
We headed home. We tried to walk through the drive through at Wendy's but they wouldn't allow us to order. That kind of sucked. I was sober though, so I grabbed my car and we went on a food/ beer run. smile I ended up going to sleep at 2am. It was fun to hang out.

Monday
Cause my weekend didn't stop with Sunday.
Woke up late Monday morning - oh that was nice. I didn't feel too bad after the concert. Ate some Krispie Kremes for breakfast. Yummy! It was Freeman's sister's birthday so we decided to ride into town to find her a birthday present. Off we went! It turned into a 17.5 mile trip. It was fun - we stopped for lunch at the J&M and they had a lunch special of $2 off! Whoo hoo!
Got home about 3pm and jumped in the shower.

Tuesday
Whadda mean my weekend is over?
I had a dentist appointment this morning. They treated me very nicely. I think they were afraid to do anything that might tee me off after last time. I found out the lady who tortured me was actually a dentist, not just a hygienist. I dunno. I would never let her near my mouth ever! It was scary...
But not this time. This time it was fine. This time my teeth were cleaned just like I expected them to be the first time. Gently without any flying objects or crying.
Then I headed to the store to pick up a vase & flowers for my boss.

I got to work and we took her out to lunch smile It was nice.
We got back to the office and the vase had exploded on her desk. How crazy is that?

Now I am almost done with my Tuesday which is really Monday for me. Yeah! (hopefully I will be a little more creative tomorrow.)

Grrrr….

Grrrr....
I'm not really angry today - but stupid things keep happening. Either I do them or people around me do them. I've just been feeling off-center lately. I know why. I just don't exactly know what to do...

Belly dance class was great last night - I'm taking a beginner class because I have never taken one. Despite being in the parade and taking 3 other classes. There was a lady there last night who was just trying it out. She had seen the parade and wanted to be a part of it this year. Yeah! And then, as we were dancing she said - I know you! You're the reason I am here! I though - no really? It was a great compliment smile And I hope it was because she saw me having fun and wanted to be a part of it. It was fun. Hopefully things will work out so I can participate again this year smile

That's it. There are other things going on, but I don't want to talk about them. Not at all.

Not sure what’s going on.

Not sure what's going on. I've been waking up at 2 am every night for the past couple of weeks. I think the people that live above me are getting up and moving around and it's waking me up - but I can't be certain. In waking me up, they also wake up my brain which immediately starts to spin as I start thinking of all the things I have to do. Of course none of them can get done at 2am - but I lay awake and fret about them regardless.

Belly dance starts again tonight. That should help with this whole not sleeping thing. I'm hoping it will help with my overall attitude as well. I think regular exercise and Elizabeth go well together.

My Team Rocks!

My Team Rocks!

Okay - though they are certainly not the best team in the conference, they beat the Cougs in Seattle and that makes for a very happy CU Buffalo Fan! Whoo Hoo! My Team Won! I can also admit that the defense and the special teams won the game (the offense couldn't do jack.) But they won! And a drunk Elizabeth was in the stands cheering them on! It was fun smile I'm very glad I was able to go!

In other news - I saw Hero this weekend. It was a very VERY visually intense movie. Not sure how much I liked the plot - there were some interesting points here and there, but the imagery was incredible. It was so intense! It was really something.

Also rode my bike down to the beach for a picnic last night. That was really fun - the clouds were coming in and there was a little bite in the air. Fall is coming. It was nice to sit and watch the people walking around and doing their thing.

Yes - I know I am being so descriptive this morning. smile Sleepy Elizabeth is still recovering from the weekend!
