Friday Brain Dump…

Friday Brain Dump...

Since I am supposed to be working, I think I will blog instead! What a FABULOUS idea!

  • Someone near me has some music on. I imagine that it is some great classical music of some sort, but all I can hear is the higher notes and it sounds like that creepy music you hear during Halloween that is supposed to scare you but really just makes you want to laugh.
  • There is a woman in my office with Bright Blue shoes on. The rest of her outfit is blue as well, so I am thinking that somewhere in there is this shade of blue. But it is not the dominant color of her outfit (which is a nice navy blue) so she shouldn't be wearing these shoes. Plus, they look to be about 15 years old. I remember when my mom owned shoes just like it. Really, if my mom can let go of that style, I think everyone should.
  • Earlier this week I was drinking Tully's coffee from a Starbucks cup. You would think that whom ever delivered the Tully's coffee would have delivered Tully's cups.
  • I was in an executive meeting today, executive meaning top tier of management in the company. One woman showed up 30 minutes late. Okay. Then she had coffee delivered to her (by a not so happy person.) She then proceeded to get her purse from under the table and start sorting through all the coupons that she had stuffed in her purse. It was very interesting behavior.
  • My boss has worn the same shoes all week. I noticed them Monday because I thought they were cute. I noticed them Tuesday because I noticed her shoes Monday and wanted to check out what she would be wearing the next day. I think she is a pretty snazzy dresser so thought I would compare her style to what I actually own and see what I can do... I noticed the same shoes on Wednesday because I thought to myself "she wouldn't wear them three days in a row would she?" She did. I made a bet with myself yesterday that she would be wearing them. I won the bet. Then I thought "wouldn't it be funny if she just wore them all week?" Yeah. She did. My advice? Get more shoes! Even if they are your absolute favorite and the most comfortable shoes you have ever owned, that is no reason to wear them every day for an entire week.
  • I didn't dress the best today and was concerned about the executive meeting I had today. I'm in no way dressed to impress. At least I'm not wearing jeans, but I did wear these sandals. I like them, but they don't "dress up" the outfit at all. If anything they dress it down. I shouldn't have worried. People showed up in varying degrees of casualness. Admittedly the men looked better than the women. But there was one woman who was wearing something very close to stretch pants coupled with an over-sized shirt. I didn't feel so out of place in my cords & polo, sandals or no.

I think that's about enough. smile Have a good weekend!

It’s just doesn’t stop!!!

It's just doesn't stop!!!

So, for some reason Comcast decided to send me a check.  I don't know why.  But I decided to cash it.  As there is a bank branch in my lobby, I just ran downstairs.

On the way back up, there was a woman in the elevator.  She looked fairly nice, well put together.  I glanced at her shoes (cause I secretly want to own hundreds of pairs of shoes but have neither the money nor the closet space.  That and I love comfy shoes, so even though I would own more, most aren't as comfy as they are cute so...)  and OH MY!  I think she had fake tips on her toe nails.  Seriously.  They were done with a french manicure.  And would have looked nice if her toe nails weren't hanging 1/2 inch over the end of her toes!  They had to be fake though, because NO ONE'S toenails are that straight and square.  It just isn't possible.

This would have been one of those times where a camera phone and a discrete way of taking the picture would have been really helpful.  REALLY helpful.

office

Someone in my office just said, "And Dude, he was dressed like a 250 pound leprechaun."

I am now officially concerned about the people I work near.

I know…

I know...

It has been forever since I last blogged.  I realize this.  I was working on this really great blog, and then the weekend came and I didn't type it and then...  it was sunny.  And hot.  Freakishly hot.  And I went to a concert.  Indigo Girls.  It was awesome.  I saw a movie too.  The Bourne supremacy.  It rocked.  My team lost our kickball game.  It was really sad.  But not freakishly sad because we were playing against the reigning champions from last year and they were not very nice.  I have other things I could say about it.  But I am choosing not to.  Higher moral ground here I come!

Okay - not really.  But I can pretend.

So, I think I have said something before about the crazy people that sit around me.  Not sure if I have mentioned the lady who is temporarily sitting next to me (thankfully someone else is moving there this Friday, so no more of this!  I will have a whole new set of issues starting next week!)  Anyway...  this woman constantly cusses and yells (in a lowered voices, but practically yelling) at her computer and at the phone.  She is angry about the people she works with.  And the job that she is forced to do.  It's constant though.  It's constant complaining and cussing (it's the cussing that really gets to me) and it amazes me that her volume is so high.  I, for one, would not WANT people to know how I felt about other people.  And in an office setting, with lower cube walls, there is no privacy.  There is just lots of other people knowing everything that is going on with you.

For some reason she has decided that I am a confidant.  She has decided to open up to me and tell me all of her woes and problems with people.  My job, of course, is to sit here, sympathize with her, listen to her, say "oh that's too bad" and let her go on her merry way.  What I really want to do is say - Honey, really, they might be more willing to help if you stopped cussing so much.  But really - what do I know?

there was something else I was going to say... maybe not.  Maybe I'm just foolin you!  HAHAHAHAHA

Yeah, okay.
