Captain’s log:

Tuesday

Captain's log:
Today is Tuesday. I am pretty sure it is Tuesday anyway. I guess I would need to ask someone else to make sure. Things are quiet on the home front. Many hours have been spent watching movies, bad TV and reading. The movies are listed below. Yesterday was fraught with choices as I made my way to the video store for the second time in as many days. It was difficult and I think I made at least one bad choice. The Agony! Regardless, I am enjoying the sunny weather and working on aging my skin. Ahh... I am a sun worshipper. It is good for me.

I had thought about making plans. Like going and doing something with other people this week. But since I wasn't sure about my recovery I decided not to. So far that seems to be a good decision. Though I might be out of my mind with boredom come Friday (though I doubt it) I think I really needed this time. Besides - I am loving the naps. Yawn!

Okay - I am off to Starbucks for an iced drink of some sort. Then maybe to the park. Or the beach again. Or maybe a movie. Or... well... the possibilities are endless aren't they?

Yeah - I know - it's a little crazy - but just wait!

The Secret Window - Good. But I think somewhere along my reading binges I read this story already so I kind of knew what was going to happen. I like Johnny Depp though. He is really good. So I enjoyed the movie despite myself.

Gothica - Halley Barry. Very good. I had to call my mom after I watched this one to make sure I was still okay. Really. I had to call another person to make sure I didn't start thinking weird things and decide to slip into some weird insanity. Mom understands. I'm glad I watched this one at 7 in the morning.

50 First Dates - Funny at first. Then it becomes kind of sad. Then it gets all sappy. Then they are in Alaska. Then it ends and I felt a great sense of relief. It really was a lot longer than I thought it should be.

Along Came Polly - Really funny. Really good romantic Comedy without too much romance and lots of comedy.

Yawn

Yawn

Surgery went well yesterday. The pain isn't even close to what it was last time. I am still all drowsy and out of energy. Between the medication and the surgery itself, my body took a big hit yesterday. I'm sure I will be fine in a couple of days. But this gives me a good excuse to eat lots of pudding and jello! Yeah!

Sleepy though. Very very sleepy...

Sunset on Solstice

Sunset on Solstice

I stepped from the pavement onto the warm sand. It crunched under my feet and immediately covered my soles with a coat of dust. The beach was packed. There were people everywhere. Circles of drummers and dancers surrounded bonfires and their music filled the air. The music mingled seamlessly with the laughter and shouts of those on the beach.
I walked toward the water. The tide was up, the water lapped at the beach and toes of those children still lingering at the waters edge. No one wanted the day to end.
Near me there was a group of families gathered together. They were about to embark of a traditional dive into the water. I watched as four men, all dressed in dark blue swim trunks, dared each other to be the first into the water. One by one they dove into the chilly water as the sun began to set.
Words cannot describe the feeling I had on the beach that night. I stood, listening to the thrum of the drums as the beats intensified. I stood watching the sun descend from the sky covering everything in its orange-pink glow. The laughter dies down. Soon the only noise was the drums, beating, the separate circles came together in rhythm. The sounds melding into a frantic hum.
As the sun reached its lowest point and disappeared from the sky a cheer went up from the beach. A feeling of happiness washed over me. I was right where I was supposed to be.

Random Thoughts…

Random Thoughts...

I was standing outside waiting for the bus last night and there was a man begging for money (not unusual.) His sign read "Saving up for a Hooker" Two of my former co-workers walked past this guy and he harassed them for almost 1/2 a block. It was most appropriate that he harassed those two guys...

The woman who sits across from me has re-done the color settings on her PC. Instead of some nice soothing colors she has chosen Bright Red and Yellow. Though she seems calm on the surface, I would not surprised if she is seething under the surface. For some reason her cube is covered in pictures of Tony Blair. I am too afraid to ask. Her daughter also apparently shows cats and won a prize this last weekend. Huh.

I am drinking Coconut Almond coffee from the coffee shop downstairs. Since I changed buildings Starbucks isn't as close as it used to be. And though this coffee is really good, I miss the cuties at Starbucks. Even the girls are super flirtatious. They know how to make tips. And they make my favorite White Chocolate Mocha better than any other coffee place I have been to (including other Starbucks) it is all about the love.

I've been apprehensive a lot lately. About work, the new job, the old job, dating, not dating, the surgery tomorrow. I'm not sure what I was expecting from June, but I don't think it is what I am getting. At least I have coffee to turn to smile Coffee and chocolate.

This week I am getting paid my last non-exempt paycheck. Can't really believe it.

As I am walking on my floor, I look around.

As I am walking on my floor, I look around.
I just happened to notice a guy standing at his cube with a full size set of scissors clipping his nose hairs.
I am trying SO hard not to bust up laughing!
