The Joys Of Shopping

The Joys Of Shopping

Took my pants in to get them hemmed.  Yeah!  Get to pick them up tomorrow.  Bigger Yeah!

Then I went to the Bon to pick up some socks (my blacks ones are turning gray, my grayish ones (formerly black) now have holes…
I stepped in to see a HUGE shoe sale.  I didn’t resist.  I stepped right up to the plate and started trying on shoes.  Found two really cute pairs (50% off mind you) and picked out my socks (6 pairs) and headed to the register.
The sales person (female) was being flaky and ended up charging me for 7 pairs of socks instead of 6.  I thought something was fishy the way she was acting, so I checked my bill on the way out to see that she had over-charged me.  I hadn’t left the store yet – so I walked over to another counter (since they were super busy in the shoe section) and asked someone else to help me.  Good thing I did!  Not only did she charge me for more socks, she OVER charged me for the socks I had!  Plus, with the sale, if you use your Bon card you get an extra 15% off!  Who hoo!  I ended up getting $12 knocked off the bill!  Yeah!  On top of all the other savings I already had!

Now that is what I call a good lunch hour!

Coming to Jesus…

Coming to Jesus...

I'm having a come to Jesus moment.

I realized that this is my job and I cannot transfer for at least a year, so I had better get my butt in gear and learn about what I will be doing for the next year.
I don't know what I was thinking, perhaps I figured this whole thing was temporary.
It isn't.  This is going to be my life.

It's not that I don't want to do what I have to do.  It isn't that I don't want to learn about it.  For some reason I haven't gotten myself in gear.  I have about 3 inches of paper to read through.  That is just the beginning.

I have a report to compile by next Tuesday morning.  I have a VERY strong feeling that I will be working over the weekend.

Jesus - here I come!

Observations:

Observations:

I was eating lunch yesterday.  It's something I try to do everyday.  Go Figure.  Yesterday, specifically, Maggie and I decided to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine.  It was beautiful outside.  We were eating and chatting about our weekends when there was an outburst of laughter and noise near us.  We looked over to see a woman chasing a seagull as it flew off with her peanut butter and jelly sandwich still in it's protective plastic bag.  I noticed that the sandwich had a bite out of it.

I was walking to a meeting in another building and noticed a guy standing on the sidewalk with a huge orange flag.  I mean HUGE.  It said, "Come to Jesus or you will go to HELL."  The sign was just so orange.  And Big.  And it had a green ribbon lining around it.

In the Lobby area of my building, if someone crunches a carrot, it echoes.

I'm really tired this afternoon.  My bed is calling my name.  I can't wait to get home and crawl in my sheets and curl up and sleep.  I don't know how I am staying awake right now!

What a Weekend!

What a Weekend!

Oh - it was a fabulous time!

Friday night Maggie and I got together and got a little tipsy. We had a few drinks (I was mixing and for some odd reason was a little heavy handed with the alcohol...) and ate some snacks. We attempted to watch a movie. That attempt didn't go so well as it was a serious movie that required attention and we weren't really in the mood to pay attention. Ah well. Such is life.
Then we went bowling!

Saturday was "Phase I" in the lovely dumpster beautification project that Kim and Barry decided to put together. We scraped and primed two 30-foot dumpsters. Ack. It was dirty work. Thankfully the dumpsters were free of random debris that collect in places like that. Saturday night I headed over to the Melting Pot for one of the best meals I have ever had. It closely rivaled the last time I went to the Melting Pot. I love that place. It is rather spendy, but you can't beat the quality. The meat is so choice it melts in your mouth. And the desert... oh man... words cannot describe it. You simply have to try it yourself. Even if you don't go for the full meal, I HIGHLY recommend the desert!

Sunday - "Phase II" of the aforementioned project took place. It was fun! Painting is much better than just priming. Though it was hard work, it seemed to take forever, it was still fun stuff. Hanging out with cool creative people doing something I wouldn't do on my own (cause really, who would do that on their own?)
Sunday afternoon was the first official kickball game and we whomped them! 8-3 baby! It was so much fun! And we just have fun with each other - we are just a big group of misfits. We went out for beers after the game and chatted more. We tried to chat with the other team, but they didn't really want to talk much. Which was kind of sad.

Today I am tired. But it's all good. I have class this afternoon (audit something or other.) Tonight I have my first Belly dancing class with the other group. I am very excited about this one! It should be a lot of fun - and I am eager to learn a different way of doing things.
